New Year Greetings + ASOS Haul (Part 1)

Hey guys! Happy (belated) new year. It's a new dawn and I'm very excited for what will come in 2012! I apologise in advance for not greeting you on the actual New Years Day. So instead I'll combine this post with my ASOS Haul and also share my opinions on the lovely month that is January!
I love January for many reasons. One of which is because the obvious: my birthday falls in January. Another is the tennis (Australian Open starts very soon here). And of course, it's the month that starts off the new year- so in many ways, it allows us to start-over or/and to try something new. For me this something new, if I choose to study in my homegrown state, will mean that I will enter university as an undergraduate student. For those living in the states, I think this would make me a freshman this coming Feb/March.
So in preparation for university, I hopped straight on ASOS to find my back-to-school (or uni as I should call it now) essentials. The items that feature on this post are in fact presents from my mother for my *VCE score.
* VCE : Equivalent of High school diploma certificate in US/UK. Here in Australia we have VCE scores which rank us out of a possible 99.95, (the closer to this number the more your Asian parents will love you. Haha.)

As you can see, I'm a big fan of patent leather. I love the sheen of patent leather. It can polish any outfit.

I've been eyeing this satchel for some time now, so I was over the moon when my mother said YES to getting it for me! The Cambridge Satchel Company is based in the UK, and all their satchels have this trademark shape and detailing. I love the feel of their leather, it's super soft but when bent several times it does not leave deep crinkles like cheap leather. I think the colour is superb. The deep burgundy undertone allows this piece to stand out without going overboard when carrying it in university. This satchel is part of the limited edition line and only available at ASOS.

I also grabbed a pair of ASOS branded skinny patent belts. As you can see, I am in love with burgundy this season. Also, I figured I should own a classic black belt to tie my outfits together. The gold detailing ties the patent finish together very well. These belts came in at $10.31 each.

I can't wait to pair these new accessories with a simple tea dress, cardigan and my Oxford brogues.

BUDGET Outfit of the Day.

So today I had to run some errands for school and mum. Just thought I'll show you my very VERY affordable outfit, courtesy of Cotton On. The whole outfit comes to a mere ten dollars! That's right. You read right! My sand boots are from Jo Mercer (Bought with 30% off on Chadstone VIP Day.)

More shopping! So today I sold my books (Ka-Ching!) and went on another mini-spending spree...
I got a Sportsgirl satchel and a Witchery skirt.
The black satchel attracted me because of it's unique shape, I also love the quality of the material. It's unbelievably soft! This satchel weighed in with $39.95.

The skirt may seem rather plain, but Witchery has the best timeless styles and shapes when it comes to women's clothing, so I knew I had to stock up on a few staples. One of them was an A-line skirt in mocha. I loved the fitting of this skirt. It's simplicity is also what attracted me because I know I can use this for many seasons to come. The skirt was a left-over from the treacherous Boxing Day sales, miraculously it was still intact. Even more so, I could find one in my size! So of course, I had to have it... Boxing Day HAUL.

So on the 26th of December I embarked on my annual Boxing Day trip. This year, with only 2.5 hours of sleep I went to the city to bravely walk through Bourke street to finally visit Zara. Although I did not purchase my long awaited blazer or medium height wedges, I did however pick up some bargains...

Kookai was having 50% off on certain items, however sizing was a factor. I managed to pick up two items amongst the mania.

The first store that I visited was actually Zara. It was CRAZY to say the least. We arrived there at 8am and the store was already filled with people. Not only this, it seems that the only remaining clothing were only in size L and above. By some miracle I managed to pick up a top in my size and a sweater, so I dashed straight to the counter.

My major purchase occurred at Myer where I fell in love with these Diana Ferrari satin ballet flats. They have these larger-than-life jewel details which I love. At 30% off the full price too. Despite my somewhat mediocre day, shoe purchases will always make me :).
